Researchers at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London are looking for particpants to complete a 15-minute questionnaire to help develop appropriate counselling tools for people taking an APOE4 gene test. They want to make sure the information is clear, respectful, and relevant by gathering opinions and perspectives from a range of people with a close interest in or experience of dementia.

A screen shot of the POPPED website page for an APOE4 survey

The survey asks about motivations for taking the test and any concerns you might have and how people think information about APOE and the test results can be best shared with a participant or patient.

The answers will help to determine the best support for everyone learning about their APOE4 results. It is not necessary to have taken an APOE4 or other genetic tests to take part.

The survey is looking for:

  • people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias
  • families and carers living with someone experiencing dementia
  • professionals working with people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias
  • anyone else with a perspective to share

The survey is hosted by POPPED, an online platform for dementia researchers to obtain public feedback in an anonymised and confidential way.
