The growth in the number of studies using the DPUK Data Portal continues to grow. With two months of 2025 remaining, we have exceeded last year’s record number of access applications.

Graphic showing the increase in access requests from 2017. Last year, the number was 149. This year it is going to be significantly higher, having already reached 150 in October 2025. The number has doubled since 2021 when there were 73 study access requests.

At the time of writing this post, the DPUK Data Portal has received 150 study applications in 2025.

In fact, the number has more than doubled in the last 5 years. (There were 73 applications in 2021).

There is a second milestone worth recording too, with the number of data requests to the portal passing 2,500 in the same week.

One of the most valuable things offered by the DPUK Data Portal for dementia researchers is the ability to access multiple datasets on a single platform – and to be able to analyse these data in a secure research environment.

The healthy year-on-year growth reflects the increasing range of data and resources research teams can access. Together with our well-developed C-Surv ontology, there are significantly growing numbers of images and more genomic data available through the portal.

If you are not familiar with the data portal, or you have not looked recently at the datasets and capabilities of the portal, we recommend you take the time to see for yourself how the portal could help you with your own research.
