Paul Matthews

Paul is a member of the Executive Team and Steering Group. Paul led the DPUK imaging network until 2019. He is Head of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London, and is a lead researcher in DPUK’s Experimental Medicine Programme. Paul has:
- Led the development of a first nationwide MR-PET network for brain imaging
- Developed an expert knowledge bank in combined molecular and structural imaging for early diagnosis and treatment for dementia
- Described for the first time a difference in ‘housekeeping cells’ in the brains of participants with and without Alzheimer’s Disease and is now investigating potential therapies.
