Datathon speakers announced

This datathon is the first one that a representative of the 3 Nations Dementia Working Group, joins the research scientists. Nigel Hullah, who chairs the group, will speak alongside key cohort experts, bringing his perspective to the event.

Research is the hand of hope. I want to see new approaches new techniques like this because I know personally, and through all my work since my own diagnosis – there is no time to lose. We need to see creativity and innovation in the research, to improve the diagnostic rates and understanding of the best treatments.
- Nigel Hullah, Chair of the 3 Nations Dementia Working Group

As in previous years the DPUK datathon has a structured format: on day 1, the leads introduce the DPUK Data Portal and the principal research questions participants will be working on. Then the group will be introduced to the health study datasets they will be working with. Health study cohort data is rich and complex. It is what makes these type of datasets so important to work with but it is also why an introduction to the datasets by those scientists who are are most familiar with it has proved so valuable at previous datathons.
