Our help with your application
If you apply for data through the Data Portal you can rely on significant support from DPUK. Our team in Swansea liaises with cohorts so that you, the researcher, can get going as quickly as possible. On average, researchers applying for data access through DPUK receive responses from cohorts within 32 days.
|There for you||
Questions and queries before you get started? We help you understand what information is held by each cohort and advise on best cohorts to choose for your projects.
We provide telephone and email support on how to complete the application form.
|Connection to cohorts||
We manage communication with cohorts on your behalf. There's no need for you to be in touch with cohorts directly.
If additional documentation is needed, we liaise with you and/ or the cohort, as appropriate.
We provide you regular updates on your application approval and chase up cohorts who haven't responded.

We help to facilitate the legal aspects of signing the data access agreement.
We set up your accounts and permissions.
We stay in touch once you are working on your analysis.
Blog: our data administrator on the support he provides
Dr Sarah Bauermeister is getting ready to lead (at least) two more DPUK datathons before the year is up. She’s been known to get up at 4.45am because she’s so enthusiastic about her work, and is totally passionate about developing younger scientists in the dementia research field. We asked her why datathons are such a great opportunity for them.
