There is increased evidence of beneficial, though modest, effects from clinical trials for three drugs which are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AcEIs).
However, due to small effect sizes, the clinical relevance of the drugs is still controversial. The aim of the study is to enrich the evidence on AcEIs by looking at their effectiveness in more realistic settings. A number of real world data (RWD) and different outcome measures will be used to produce evidence on how effective the drugs are outside of the setting of clinical trials. Additionally, the effects found in the RWD, will be compared to those of more homogeneous populations of placebo arms of randomised control trials. Lastly, the study will explore between-person heterogeneity in trajectories and test which variables are predictive of response to the drugs.
