Hugh Perry is Professor of Experimental Neuropathology at the University of Southampton. Hugh will be giving the opening address at our conference this year.

Hugh Perry.jpgHis research focuses on the interactions between the immune system and nervous system, and in particular how systemic infection and inflammation play a role in driving the progression of neurodegenerative disease. Hugh has sat on a number of research advisory boards and funding panels for government and charitable agencies, in addition to consulting for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in the area of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative disease.

He was Chair of the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) Neurosciences and Mental Health Board and a member of the MRC Strategy Board from 2012-2017. Hugh currently chairs the Oversight Board of Dementias Platform UK and is an advisor to the UK Dementia Research Institute.
