Professor Hugh Perry
Hugh Perry is Professor of Experimental Neuropathology at the University of Southampton. His opening address at the DPUK annual conference 2018 focused on inflammation and dementia.
Professor Miia Kivipelto
Miia Kivipelto is Professor of Clinical Geriatric Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet (KI). Miia's keynote address at the DPUK conference focused on her FINGER trial and the recent launch of the Worldwide FINGERS initiative, an interdisciplinary network to support joint global initiatives in dementia prevention.
Dr John Isaac
John is Senior Director in Neuroscience External Innovation at Johnson & Johnson Innovation. In this role John uses his drug discovery and scientific experience to identify and advance external opportunities in the areas of Alzheimer’s Disease and mood disorders.
Dr Ivan Koychev
Ivan is both a trainee psychiatrist and Clinician Scientist for DPUK. Ivan leads the development of DPUK's Clinical Studies Register and is the Oxford site lead in the Deep and Frequent Phenotyping study.
Dr Sarah Bauermeister
Sarah is a cognitive neuropsychologist and Data Manager for DPUK. As Data Manager, she manages access to cohort data for researchers and consortia. Sarah is currently working with John Gallacher and collaborators to design a cross-cohort data ontology for DPUK.
Chloe is an early career researcher working towards her PhD in health literacy and cognitive function. During her time working with DPUK, Chloe has contributed to the development of enhanced cognitive assessment for the UK Biobank, and is now examining the validity of this computerised cognitive assessment.
Dr Rob Buckle
Dr Rob Buckle is Chief Science Officer at the Medical Research Council (MRC), which is the main Government agency responsible for UK biomedical research. Rob chaired our 'In conversation' session, 'Big data and dementia: joining up the dots'.
Dr Catherine Calvin
Catherine is a senior researcher in Dementias Platform UK and leads DPUK’s analysts' working group. In this role, she works with dementia researchers with advanced expertise in various analytic methods, to develop collaborative proposals that exploit the DPUK Data Portal.
Dr Chi-Hun Kim
Chi-Hun Kim is a post-doctoral researcher in Dementias Platform UK and a qualified medical doctor, having completed specialist training in neurology in South Korea. His research focuses on investigating the roles of vascular and inflammatory factors in dementia using advanced causal analytics.
Professor Andrew Morris
In August 2017 Andrew became the inaugural Director of Health Data Research UK, the multi-funder UK Institute for health and biomedical informatics research that will capitalise on the UK’s renowned data resources and research strengths to transform lives through health data science. Andrew joins DPUK director, John Gallacher, in our discussion session, 'Big data and dementia'.
Chris is Data Project Manager for Dementias Platform UK and leads on cohort data integration, managing cohort data share to the Data Portal, data access, and research development with cohorts.
Helen Rochford-Brennan is the current Chairperson of the European Working Group of People with Dementia. Throughout her time with this and other organisations she has campaigned to raise awareness of dementia. She was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 62 and has since written very personally about living with dementia.
Professor Jonathan Schott
Jon is Professor of Neurology at the Dementia Research Centre, UCL, and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He runs a busy cognitive disorders clinic, and carries out translational clinical research. Jon leads the Insight 46 longitudinal study.
