This is a scientific commentary of the paper ‘Diverging longitudinal changes in astrocytosis and amyloid PET in autosomal-dominant Alzheimer’s disease’, by Rodriguez-Vieitez et al. (doi: 10.1093/brain/awv404 ). Professors Schott and Fox indicate that the featured study demonstrates the importance of inflammatory changes very early in AD pathogenesis and that biomarkers reflecting different aspects of the pathogenic process have diverging trajectories thereafter.
